Situated in the Ferozepur district, Abohar Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most prominent national parks in Punjab.
Abohar is about 50 km northeast of the city of Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan. It is southeast of Fazilka. It had a population of 1,24,303 in 2001. The city is also known as the "California of Punjab" for its rich soil, good irrigation facilities and especially for its production of tangerine, a fruit of the orange fruit family. Abohar is also famous for the production of cotton and is one of the largest cotton-producing regions in the whole of North India.
