Let us tell you that the IT Act was passed in 2000. But the controversial section 66(A) was not included at that time. In 2008, section 66(A) was added to this Act by amendment, which came into force in February 2009.
This section is related to posting objectionable content on electronic devices. Under this, there is a provision of imprisonment for three years or a fine of Rs 5 lakh or both.
Any information which is false, but that information is used by electronic devices to harass, cause inconvenience, create danger, insult or cause injury to any person.
