24 January : National Girl Child Day is celebrated in India every year on this day i.e. 24 January. It started from 2008. The main purpose of celebrating this is to make people aware of the discrimination against women and girls. It is celebrated to raise awareness among people about inequalities, discrimination, exploitation faced by the girls in society. It was started by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Government of India in 2008
Even then the President of the Indian Army used to be of British origin. On 15 January 1949, Field Marshal KM Cariappa became the first Indian Army Chief of independent India. At that time there were about 2 lakh soldiers in the army. Army Day was celebrated on 15 January every year since KM Cariappa was made the Army Chief.
Prior to him this post was held by Commander General Roy Francis Butcher. Since then, Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January.

There are two big reasons behind celebrating Army Day on 15 January. The first is that from the day of 15 January 1949, the Indian Army was completely freed from the British Army. On the second day, General KM Cariappa was made the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
